BRITISH FASHION AWARDS 2012

An annual event that takes place in London, the British Fashion Awards celebrate the best in the industry from the very best designers to the hottest models of the year.

I'm so pleased with the winners of this years awards. My favourite, Alexa Chung, got a hat trick by winning the British Style Award for the third year on the bounce and she looked incredible. She wore a beautiful Simone Rocha dress and fabulous statement heels by Nicholas Kirkwood. I adore her style; so effortless, chic and classy.

Cara Delevigne took home Model of the Year. Before this year I hadn't really known anything of her but I noticed her popping up on several London Fashion week catwalks this past season, including the Burberry Prorsum show, and she pulls everything off brilliantly. A definite worthy winner. She even wore one of the metallic green Burberry dresses for the show.

Her post-award interview is great. She seems so down-to-earth and fun!

Other big winners of the night included Erdem, who won New Establishment Award and JW Anderson who won the Emerging Talent Award: Ready-To-Wear which, presumably was helped by his amazing Topshop collection earlier this year.
The big award of the night is Designer of the Year which was won by Stella McCartney (who also won Designer Brand) on the night. She was wearing one of her own strapless jumpsuit designs to the awards.

Also in attendance was Nick Grimshaw, who hosted the ceremony, Pixie Geldof, Lily Allen, Victoria Pendleton and even royalty in the shape of Princess Beatrice!

I love Princess Beatrice's Erdem dress! So beautiful and classy.

And here is the full list of winners of this years BFAs. Do you agree with them?

WHAT'S IN MY BAG

I love reading these types of posts and as I just decided to sort my bag out, decided now was a good a time as any to showcase mine.

Bag; Matalan

I've only had this bag for about a month and I don't really like it that much. I like big bags but this is too big and I prefer long straps on bags so I can put it over my shoulder. This is just a hassle. But I like the stud design on it. May have to hunt down a long bag strap for it!

Not much in it now that I've taken out all the loose change and old receipts (which make the size of it even more annoying).

  • I only actually got the hat this week from Matalan. I think it was £5. Totally in love with it. I'm not really a hat person but I have wanted one for a while now.
  • BILLS. Ugh. I have to keep my statements in my bag as soon as I get them so that I remember to pay them on pay day.
  • Got this purse about a year ago after mum treated me. Perfect size and loads of card slots which is definitely needed.
  • Probably shouldn't really show/talk about my place of work but that is my lanyard and I will lose it if I take it out so it has to stay there.
  • Make up bag... although some things have changed a bit, there's a post HERE about that.
  • Also got the gloves from Matalan the other day and they were £4. You can use touch screen phones whilst wearing them. My mind was blown! No more cold fingers on the way to and from work!
  • Got these sunglasses at the start of the year from Primark. Probably not necessary for this time of year but when I start work early the sun is sometimes coming up and when I'm driving it blinds me! So they need to be in my bag at all times.
  • Old, beaten up compact mirror. Should probably think about buying a new one really. All the gems have come off this with how much it's thrown around in my bag.
  • Always need throat sweets and Nuerofen! My supply is quite low at the moment with being ill the majority of the month... my immune system sucks!
  • Anti-bacterial hand wash... not much explanation needed.
  • Keys! Well, I say keys. There's my house key and car key and then a million and one keyrings. And I still manage to never be able to find them in my bag even though it's that bulky!
  • Earphones and phone because I can't even do the 10 minute walk from where I park to the shop without listening to music.

Let me know if you've done one of these posts recently so I can have a read!

DRESS LIKE...MEGHAN ORY

Every day I develop more and more of a girl crush on Meghan Ory. For those unfamiliar with her she is an actress who is in the show Once Upon A Time in which she plays Ruby/Red Riding Hood. (If you've never watched OUAT then I hugely recommend you watch it. It's impossible for me to explain it without making it sound rubbish but trust me, it is brilliant!)
Anyway! Meghan is beautiful and always looks amazing so I thought I'd do my next "Dress Like..." post on her. (Kat Dennings and Emma Stone can be found by clicking their names.)

BY DAY

Both of these actually are actual two of Ruby's outfits in season two of OUAT but as she's relatively unknown and this is her first major acting role there's very few photos of her, outside of the show, available.

Very simple and basic pieces clothes-wise and then lots of statement accessories and chunky jewellery then slick on some bright lipstick and add a leather jacket!

BY NIGHT

Once again, very simple pieces in monochrome and adding in pops of colour with the use of make up and shoes. Then adding in some studs and sparkle to toughen up the look!

Please do let me know who else you'd like me to do one of these posts on because even though they take me hours, I love doing them and they appear to be quite popular with you guys!
Thank you!

HOUSE OF HOLLAND SUPERGA'S

Earlier this year House of Holland teamed up with Superga to put their own spin on the infamous brand. I love Henry Holland and when I saw the shoes I really loved them. Being canvas pump types, they aren't really something I usually wear and the original £72 price tag put them a bit out of my reach. I noticed last week that they were £40 on sale and I knew at that price they wouldn't be available much longer so I bit the bullet and bought them. I ended up getting them off the Superga website because my size were sold out on the HOH website but, if you liked the Superga Facebook page you got a (really random) 3% off. Every penny counts these days! It did suggest getting a size smaller because they're massive so I did and I'm glad because even the size smaller is a teeny bit big but I can handle that.

I am literally in love with them!

(Now apologies for the next photos. There's nowhere at all in my house/room to get decent outfit photos. Especially with bad winter lighting.)

Here's what I have worn today...

Jumper; H&M | Shirt; Vault | Skirt; Topshop | Tights; Topshop | Bracelet; New Look | Shoes; House of Holland x Superga | Nails; Barry M 'Prickly Pear' + Rimmel nail tip whitener

The shirt is from a little shop that's local to where I work but I'm more than sure there's similar things all over the high street. Or you could get a black collared shirt from Primark and some spike studs off eBay and you're sorted!
Also, the jumper is something I bought at the start of the year. They were only £8 but I could only afford one at the time. I went back after I had been paid to get more colours but they'd all sold out.

They are the most comfy shoes I have ever worn. It's a shame I won't get away with wearing them for work but I'm sure whenever I'm not there, I will be living in these for a very long time.

Sorry for a very photo heavy blog but I needed to share my love.
Hope everyone is fine and dandy!

LIEBSTER BLOG AWARD

I've been tagged for the Liebster Award four times now so I thought it was about time I actually did it. The award is for bloggers with less than 200 followers as a way of saying their blog is really great and to encourage them to continue as well as being a great way of interacting with other bloggers.

The rules for the award post are:

You must post 11 random facts about yourself.
You must answer 11 questions from the person who chose you.
You must create a new set of 11 questions for who you tag.
You must then tag 11 blogs with under 200 followers and let them know

I have been tagged by The Pink Team, Dedicated Follower of Fashion and LissInc but as Mia tagged me most recently, I will answer her questions (but thank you to the other girls for tagging me!)

Taylor Swift is probably my biggest guilty pleasure. And One Direction. Can't help it, the songs are too catchy!

Friends, DVDs, cookies! And I do love a cocktail night in Wetherspoons.

Of all the movies released this year, what has been your favourite?
The Artist, definitely! Seems like it came out so long ago but it was only out here in January. I've seen so many films this year though. War Horse, Perks of Being a Wallflower and Brave are all on my favourites of the year list.

How many piercings do you have?
11. They're all in my ears but I only actually wear 4 mostly!

What's your favourite thing about Winter?
I despise everything about winter. Everything. Oh, except from that chunky cardigans come out and I love a cardigan!

What fashion trend are you loving most at the moment?
I really like the baroque print trend but I don't own any of it (yet).

CURRENTLY COVETING: COSMETICS

Recently I've become a lot more "in to" make up than I ever have been and I just keep buying stuff all the time. I blame the likes of Boots and Superdrug for 3 for 2 offers. You can hardly say no to that! (Superdrug are currently 3 for 2 on all make up and lashes, by the way!) So right now I'm lusting after quite a number of things but I'm very penny-less at the moment so I may have to hold out until payday for most of this.

MAC Diva, Lady Bug & Girl About Town | Topshop Crescent Moon Highlighter | Revlon lipstick in Black Cherry | Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple | Real Techniques Buffing Brush | Sleek Blush in Rose Gold | Models Own in Bare Beauty | MUA lip liner | Katy Perry "Oh Honey!" lashes | Nivea Express Hydration Primer

So, just one or two things there then...

As you can probably guess from that, I like lipstick. I have one MAC lipstick (Impassioned) and I love it so much and I really want more now. I think Diva is definitely the one I most want, though it does look quite similar to Topshop's Beguilded (which I already own). And I've read so many great things about Revlon lip products, I actually bought a matte lipstick of theirs in "Really Red" and it lasts so long so I'm impressed. I was going to buy the Black Cherry one but they didn't have any left, boo! The lip butters are hugely raved about everywhere too so I'm going to have to hope Superdrug's 3 for 2 is on for a couple more weeks.
Lip pencils is something I've been buying this last week too. I've bought a red and berry coloured one but most of my lipsticks are pink so it's probably a bit silly not to own a pink one!

The Topshop highlighter and Sleek blush are another two items that I'm jumping on the bandwagon about. I love the highlighter that is in the Sleek Contour Kit and I've read too many good things about Topshop highlighters so I really want to see what the fuss is about.
The Sleek blush... well the colour looks too nice in all the swatches I've seen and it looks perfect for Autumn/Winter. Unfortunately, my local Superdrug don't stock Sleek so I'll have to venture out to get it.

I made an order with Models Own when they did their half price summer sale and this was sold out then but I really want a nice nude polish because I don't have any and nude nails look so classy on everyone. I will have to invest!

Always wanted to try false eyelashes but I never have. I think I'm slightly afraid of the glue (I have a weird phobia thing with glue) and also about ruining my own lashes. Then Katy Perry released her range and that made me want to try them even more. Think I'm going to just go for it when we have our Christmas Do for work, eek!

The primer and make up brush aren't really cosmetics but they sort of fit in. I keep seeing the advert for the Nivea primer and I'm very intrigued. I think they say it's a moisturiser and also a primer which I can only see as time saving in a morning when I'm half asleep trying to make myself look like I'm bright and awake! And I do like Nivea products so I think it will be a good buy.
Then the Real Techniques brush is just another jump on the bandwagon thing. The buffing brush comes in the Core Collection and it's on sale on Amazon at the moment so I'm very tempted. Everyone raves this brush so much and I want to know why!

Just want to say a huge thank you to you all for following my blog. I hit 100 followers yesterday! So thrilled! That's more in just less than 2 months than the entire time I had my blog open the first time round.
THANK YOU <3

OCTOBER FAVOURITES

Sorry for how late this post is. I had intended to have it up on Wednesday but this week has been crazy busy and now I'm really ill, boo!
I love reading people's monthly favourites posts so here's mine for October..!

Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser | ELF Brush Shampoo | Lush Lip Scrub | Sudocrem | Models Own "In The Navy" | Kate Moss for Rimmel 107 | Benefit Brow-zings

I bought the moisturiser at the end of last month when Superdrug had buy one get one free on Simple products and at first I wasn't overly thrilled by it but the more I've used it the more I like it. I used to just use E45 for moisturiser but this is so much lighter and soothing.

I posted about my first ELF purchase a while back. Since then I have made 2 more purchases from them. I only received the third in this week but the brush shampoo was in my second haul. I also bought the daily brush cleaner which I also like but the shampoo is brilliant. I wash my brushes every Sunday and it leaves them as soft as they were when I bought them and I've had no bristle fall out as of yet. I've been using it for just over a month now and I've hardly used any of it. So it's a total bargain for £3.75!

I bought the Lush lip scrub last pay day and it was the first thing I've ever bought from Lush. I am addicted to it! I think I may have over-used it when I first bought it but I tend to use it every night after I've done all my other skin care routine. It tastes so good too!

Sudocrem is probably a weird thing to include in a favourites post but this month my skin decided it hated me and broke out horrendously so Sudocrem has been my little life saver. I know it's most used for nappy rash but it does say on the label "acne" too and it works so well. Plus this huge pot was pretty cheap and the expiry date is 2017 so it's going to last ages.

When Models Own Facebook page got to 100,000 likes they did a 50% off everything sale so I treated myself to 5 polishes. They're so lovely and I already had a couple but this is definitely my favourite. You only need one coat as well to get a good solid coat. (I should have probably painted my nails prior to this post so I could have shown photos but I'm in bed, coughing my lungs up trying to write this!)

The new Kate Moss for Rimmel collection launched at the start of October and I was very excited with it being a matte collection. I've got lipsticks from her previous 2 collections and I love them so on the day it launched I spent way too long deciding which to buy. When I saw photos of the packaging before it launched, I wasn't sure I liked it as the other 2 collections were black with the autograph is red/pink but seeing it in person, I really like it. I ended up buying, what is apparently a huge blogger favourite, shade 107. It's a lovely dark red/almost berry colour and it's so lovely on. I think I may have to treat myself to a couple of the other shades because the formula of them is so nice and matte finishes are my favourite.

Finally..! In last months In Style magazine they were giving away free samples of Benefit make up. I love when magazines do this and I usually end up buying multiple copies just for the samples. I only bought one this time however and I got Sun Beam (which I really like! I prefer it to High Beam, too.) Inside the magazine there was a voucher to take to a Benefit stand for a free sample of the Bad Gal mascara. I already have a sample of this and to be honest, I don't like it all that much. I like mascara to be really volumising and thick and Bad Gal doesn't do that. However, it was free and it's always nice to have emergency mascaras. As part of it, the lady at the counter had to show me 3 products which was fine but I ended up wanting to buy them all. I settled on buying Brow-zings. I don't have a good relationship with my eyebrows, I absolutely hate them but I loved how she made them look with this product. I've used it practically everyday since buying it and it's definitely my absolute favourite product of the month. So easy to use with the angled and blending brush it comes with. I would definitely recommend it.
